Typhoon Ruder hits southern island of China
300,000 evacuated as typhoon Ruder lands

About 300,000 people have been evacuated as typhoon Ruder landed in the southern island of Hainan province Friday afternoon.
At 1:30 pm, Ruder was about 50 mph at its center. It made landfall in Haikou, bringing heavy winds and torrential rain to the capital city of Hainan.
The province has recalled ships, suspended flight and ferry services and closed schools in preparation for Ruder, which is the 25th typhoon to hit China this year.
To ensure children's safety, all kindergartens, primary and middle schools in Sanya, Wenchang and Haikou, have suspended classes from Thursday to Friday.
As a result, Local transportation service systems were seriously disrupted in this storm. All flights were canceled at the Phoenix International Airport of Sanya on Thursday, while 143 flights were canceled and 32 delayed in Meilan Airport of Haikou.
In addition, vegetables could not be transported from other areas of the country, causing prices to surge on Thursday.
Overnight, the death toll has already risen to at least 8 resulting from the typhoon. No wonder most people were just waiting nervously for it all to be over.
