In 1881, the mummy of Ramses II was discovered, and in 1974, his mummy was found to be infested with fungus. The Egyptian government sent his mummy to France for restoration and issued him a national passport with "King (deceased)" in the occupation column, and performed a grand military ceremony for his departure. The mummy was welcomed by France at the Le Bourget airport in Paris with the treatment of a head of state.
