Ptah (Pteh, Peteh) was one of the triad of Memphis along with Sekhmet (or Bast) and Nefertum. He was given the epithet “He who set all the gods in their places and gave all things the breath of life.It is said that he was instrumental in maintaining the duality of Upper and Lower Egypt. In Memphis,he was depicted as a mummified man with unbound arms holding a staff incorporating the ankh , the was and the djed.
As the god who created all the other deities, Ptah created Atum, and all the other deities of the Ennead, a full set of nine deities called the “Great Ennead of Heliopolis”. They were Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Nut and Geb, Osiris, Isis, Set and Nephthys.
Known to be quite willful, he just had to think about it. That’s right – first he conceived the ideas, then felt them in his heart. Once he spoke the words, life and things were created. There's one other thing that's really interesting about him, often the pharaohs’ coronations were in his temple.
