The difference between Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism includes that pudu sentient beings and their own selves respectively. Mahayana in Chinese is 大乘佛教, 大 means big, which refers to that it big enough to accept and transport everyone. 乘, yana, is a transportation, such as a boat or a car. Theravada Buddhism, 小乘佛教, 小 in English means small, so it's just not sufficient to include lots of people. So people tend to pudu themselves, the individuals, in the Theravada Buddhism. |
