大乘”佛教的来历

大乘佛教指能将无量众生度到彼岸，佛教中用马车来比喻度众生的工具，大乘也意为：大的车乘。在佛教声闻，缘觉，菩萨的三乘教法中，菩萨乘为大乘教法。大乘佛教亦称“大乘教”，略称“大乘”。

“大乘”佛教，其实并非是最初佛陀创立的原始佛教，而是在公元150年-250年之间，由印度佛教史上有“第二佛陀”之称的龙树所创立。据说当年龙树尊者在世时，曾著作了《中论》、《大智度论》、《十住毗婆沙论》等一系列著作，这些在后来被奉为大乘佛教经典。其中《中论》所代表的中观学说，更是被誉为“肇大乘佛教思想之先河”。龙树也因此被认为是汉传佛教和藏传佛教共同的祖师。

The difference between Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism includes that pudu sentient beings and their own selves respectively. Mahayana in Chinese is 大乘佛教, 大 means big, which refers to that it big enough to accept and transport everyone. 乘, yana, is a transportation, such as a boat or a car. Theravada Buddhism, 小乘佛教, 小 in English means small, so it's just not sufficient to include lots of people. So people tend to pudu themselves, the individuals, in the Theravada Buddhism.

Mahayana Buddhism  is a sect that saves sentient beings.In Journey to the West,the Tang monks spreads the Mahayana Buddhism.
