Learn to Live in the Present Moment
To a large degree, whether we can keep peace mind is determined by how much we are able to live in the present moment. No matter what happened yesterday or what may not happen tomorrow, the present moment is where we are.
With rapid increasing living pace, many of us spend most of our lives worrying about a variety of things. We allow past problems and future concerns to dominate our present moments, so much we think about that we lose to anxious, frustrated, depressed, and helpless situation. In addition, we often postpone our gratification, our present priorities and our happiness, and in our minds there must be someday better than today, especially deeply – rooted in the minds of Chinese families. My uncle, a middle – aged Chinese has saved money to buy a set of house in the most his life, however, whether money paid for the house are raised or not, their owner is not young anymore, and now, my uncle owns a set of apartment while losing enjoyment in the passed days.
In China, there are many other cases the same as this, a proverb says‘life is what is happening while we are busy making other plans’, and in our daily lives, when we are busy making other plans, our children are growing up, the people we love are leaving or dying, and our bodies are getting out of shape, our dreams are slipping away. In short, we miss our lives.
Why do we worry about the past and the future? Maybe this porverb is a good answer:“a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”which means something we already have is always better than something we are expecting to own. We fear any possible events that might happen in the future such as we don't have enough money, our children will get into troubles, and we combat these fear and push them out of our minds? The best strategy is to learn to bring our attention back to the present, now is the only time we have and only time we can grasp. When our attention is in the present moment, we are able to forget unhappiness in the past and concerns in the future and enjoy every second of our life thoroughly. |
