Cracked Pot
I read a story in a magazine about cracked pot. An elderly woman had two large pots, One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman ."I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house." Each of us has own unique flaws. But if we will allow it , the Lord will use our flaws to grace His Father’s table. Sometimes ,flaws can decorate the world.
It reminded me of a joke that a pastor wanted to employ three boys to sale “the Bible” in summer holiday. He didn’t decide to hire the third boy speaking with stutter till last-minute. However, to his surprise, the third boy sold the most books in three of them. When the pastor asked the boy how to sale so many books , he said I told all people I would read “the Bible” to them if they didn't buy my books. I can't help laughting. Who can say stutter is his fatal flaw? Sometimes, shortcomings can be turned into advantages.
Recently, there has been a strange phenomenon in many companies’ recruiting lists to ask the people to write their flaws, such as working slowly . I was confused about it until a businessman told me the reason that companies makes use of their “weakness” to work. For example, a person working slowly will be arranged to check the quality of products, beause of great care. What he said made me contemplate for a long time.
To tell the truth, there isn’t a clear definition about the shortcoming and the advantage. In God’s great economy , nothing goes to waste and nothing is unavailable. In some sense , flaw is perfection as the statuette of Venus loses her arms but becomes perfect masterpiece.
Just as craked pot can water flowers on the rode, so our flaws can water flowers in our hearts.
