Apple of Discord

Interest is the apple of discord.

It was told by political science. However, recently boycott in South Korea and violence in South Africa provided perfect proofs for this proposition.

In anxiety of mad cow disease, about eighty thousand Korean gathered in capital to protest the seemly unfair and unsafe contrast on beef import between South Korea and America. High pressure from Korean urged their president to delay the enforcement of this contact. On hearing of this, the White House declared that America would force South Korea to make immediate agreement on this affair. America was in fear of the failure of entering the beef market of South Korea. A conclusion shall be made here: both sides were rational enough towards the topic of interest. More than matter of interest, still for this issue there was a vital moral difference: voice of South Korea was just for they intended to defend their safety and lives; while the declaration of America was unjust for they ignore the requirements of its cooperator.

Violence in South Africa was of a little astonishment and amusement.

Unlike violence hundreds years ago when African were against the control of settlers or colonists, today they drove away immigrants who were from other poor Africa countries. The given reason was very simple: these immigrants who worked harder than natives would grip much wealth what should belong to the natives. As the most blessed country in Africa, South Africa made its dramatic fortune by selling charming crystal and expensive gold. However, African in its brother Africa countries are still tortured by white poverty. South Africa is more likely to evidence bitter suffering of other countries instead of lending a hand. To comment on this problem, what does matter is only interest. Interest is more attractive and more sound compared with brotherhood relationship. Ironically, about one hundred and forty years ago, Abraham Lincoln advocated the freedom of blacks on the cost of his life. About forty years ago, Martin Luther King pursued the equality of blacks with the contribution of his life. About thirty days ago, with words of the famous speech “I Have a Dream” still lingering in the air, blacks, who were considered to approach historical aims, displayed their discords on interest. Where was the unity of black world as Lincoln dreamed? Where was the harmony of black world as King mentioned?

It is interest that peeled agreement and unity, but left only a discord world.
