Anuket was the ancient Egyptian goddess of the Nile River, symbolizing its fertility and life-giving power. Associated with the Upper Nile, floods, and fertile silt, she served as a guardian of agriculture and fertility. Known as the "Embracer of the Nile," she was believed to nourish Egypt’s land through the river’s waters.  

Mythological Background
Anuket was part of the Elephantine Triad, worshipped alongside her father Khnum (creator god, shaping humans on a potter’s wheel) and mother Satet (goddess of archery and Egypt’s southern borders). The triad was venerated at Elephantine near Aswan, regarded as guardians of the Nile’s source and annual floods.  

Symbols & Depictions  
Headdress: Often wore a crown of ostrich feathers or reeds, symbolizing Upper Egypt and natural vitality.  
Attributes: Held a scepter or papyrus plant, occasionally carrying the ankh (symbol of life).  
Animal Form: Manifested as a gazelle, representing agility and the Nile’s ecological richness.

Centers of Cult: Primary temples located at Elephantine and Sehel Island, where inscriptions dedicated to her survive.
