Still Heroes by anton

Throughout the fantastic festival of sports, what impressed us most in the 29th Olympic

games were the grand ceremony, the competitive games and most exciting above all, the

shining gold medals. In the common public eyes, every gold medal represents one or several

heroes, who made our country proud. But there are some heroes receiving no medal or missing

the gold one while still earn our respect.
Chinese team spirits are fully expressed by the Chinese basketball team(men) and the

vollyball team(women). With Yao leading the team, our basketball players ranked the 8th of

the game. The match with the Germany team was decisive. We played very well and winned the

match, which was out of most people's expectation. Supported by the whole nation, the

vollyball team failed to take the gold medal. They controlled their emotion after the lost

in the 1/4 match and made greater effort to win a bronze beating the Cuba team. Both the

team gave us spectacular performance.
Beside our glorious team, I'd like to draw your attention to some individuals.
The most pityful athlete, I think, is Cheng Fei, the leading figure of Chinese women's

gymnastics team. She did well in the team competition however fatal mistakes occurred in

her later Vault match and took her gold medal away from her. Another girl from Korea

adopted a difficult jump named after Cheng Fei and winned the game. What amazed me was that

Cheng still got a Bronze. Whoever made such big mistakes had no way but quitting but Cheng

seemed to tell us she wouldn't gave up so easily.
LiuXiang, bearing 1.3 billion poeple's high expectation in outbreaking in track and field,

disappointed or even "hurt" the majorty by quitting the race in the preliminary match.

After a period of angry scorning, the public calmed down. According to Sina, 70 percent of

the public still think Liu was the hero of China. I believe firmly Liu will come back and

make the country proud of him again. He said,"I'll be back one day!"
The last one I had to mention is our heroin, TanXue, member of Chinese women's sabre(佩剑)

team. The final games was China to Ukraine. With Tan's effort, our team led the game and

got 40 when the opponent was 37. Tan was active and exciting at that time and she took the

final round. The firece game came to its climax with a 44 to 44 tie, for any side took one

point, the game would end. Our women zorro moved suddenly forward pointing her sharp sword

towards the opponent, as quickly as leopard and tough as eagle. Oh, Jesus! The two hit each

other almost at the same time, leaving the difficult decision to the referee. There were no

sound of crying, no sound of cheering until the referee judged the lost of our team. The

light lit on. Tan Xue went to the french couch, hugged and cried. Though I sat beside the

TV, I felt the sadness in her place. I've never been so low after watching any match on TV.

But this time I was clearly absorbed, just as anyone else who have seen the game, and the

spirit.

winned the match_______won the match

good article. sincere feelings can be sensed from your narration and description. Those instances cited are sound enough to support your idea: there are some heroes receiving no medal or missing the gold one while still earn our respect.
