AGAINST RISKS OF INVESTMENT
There are various kinds of investment on the subject of sports, education and business, but with one similarity that they will be all accompanied by risks which scared thousands of investors. Looking back, I remember that I had my only personal experience of investment 5 years ago. By accumulating year after year , I devoted 500 Yuan in my brother’s stock investment. Unfortunately , my brother appeared to be a green hand in stock exchange. So I waved goodbye to my precious money, forever.
This made me once belong to the camp of people who keep themselves far away from any risks in order to avoid any possible economic failure and mental sufferings. But several days ago, when watching a TV documentary , a totally different idea stroke my mind. The program focused on a group of Brazilian teenagers who invested their life in pursuing their football dream. I was deeply moved by one of the boys ,who, though too poor to afford a pair of shoes, tried 22 times in taking part in the professional football teams’ entrance tests. Where there is a will there is a way, he made his dream come true in the end.
Trying to figure out the reason why he realized his ambition , I find out his key to success is that he never thought about giving up his dream. Nowadays , affected by market economy, we seem to be getting over-cautious of making decisions, especially decisions on investment. We care too much about what we already have and what we might lose. With such a concept deeply rooted in our mind, sometimes, we even dare not to start. However, for people believing in that they have nothing to lose but everything to gain, the risk of their investment can be controlled at the lowest level.
Before ending my speech ,let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to risk is risk itself—a namelessly ,unreasoning, unjustified terror which may block our advance to success. |
