We Need a Green World

One of my fondest memories as a child is going by the river and sitting idly on the bank, there I would enjoy the peace and quiet , watch the clean, pure water rush downstream and listen to the chirps of birds and rustling of leaves in the trees. But now, what a pity that everything changes when I go there. The river turns black from green, dirty with an unpleasant smell, and the trees around there are replaced by tall buildings. I can’t listen to the beautiful songs sung by birds any more, I can’t feel the gentle winds kiss my face, I can’t see the green waters contrast finely with the blue sky. The earth is flowed with dirtiness, blackness. All of us on earth are facing a serious, unignorable fact: The damage of environment. My purpose of giving the speech is telling everybody to wake up, to have responsibility to protect our environment.
    It is terrible that a number of human activities are contributing to global warming, desertification, and changeable weather that causes flood as well as droughts. Human beings are crazy to develop economy recklessly without caring for environment. It is late for us to recognize the significance of environmental protection while flood destroyed our homes, while the snow disaster brought death to us, while many people die of bird flu, etc. Why doesn’t everybody see the consequence of environmental damage before those terrible disasters fell on us ?
    With the fast pace of urbanization and industrialization, with the strengthen awareness of environmental protection. Almost everywhere you turn these days, there is a meeting, a conference, a magazine or newspaper article about the greening of world. Government made great efforts to hand out a series of policies, such as enacting law , building water saving fixtures, and promoting the idea of sustainable development. And we share information about recycling and energy conservation with our friends, relatives. It is absolutely imperative that we must protect environment.
   Everybody, as a citizen on earth, we should perfume our duties and fulfill our obligation. What should we do ? Do what we can do even if something we do seem simple and ordinary.
   1.        Reduce. Reuse. Recycle
   In order not to waste the sources on earth, we should turn the things out of use into renewable things.
   2.        Drive Less and Drive Smart
   We prefer to walking and biking rather than driving. If you drive, you attempt to reduce the smog caused by car fumes.
   3.        Buy Energy- Efficient Products.
   I learned in a newspaper that if you reduce your household garbage by 10 percent, you can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide annually. Avoid products that comes with excess packaging that can’t be recycled.
   4. Plant a Tree
It is sensible that planting more trees and other plants, which make air clean,etc.
  5.Love Animals
  They are our friends on earth. One day if they disappear, we are doomed to die.
  We are in a big family, we have the same goal, and have the same dream: Don’t let the earth cry! We need a green world!
