I’m a Princess ------Reference of A Little Princess
“Whatever comes cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed in cloth of gold, but it’s a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it.”
The quotation mentioned above was said by the little heroine of A Little Princess .It is one of my favorite se    ntences of this book. In my opinion, it can reflect Sara---the heroine’s noble personality.
Now I want to share the story with you……
It happened on a dark winter’s day, when the yellow fog hung so thick and heavy in the streets of London, an odd-looking little girl in a cab with her father .She was our heroine---Sara. Sara’s mother died in Sara’s early age, so she was brought up by her father, Captain Crewe, and they developed a deep relationship. But this time they had to be separated because Sara had to attend a school in London while her father had to stay in India. After knowing Sara’s father was very rich, Miss Minchin, the head-teacher of the school treated Sara quite well. But when she got the news that Sara’s father died and left nothing for his poor daughter, she ill-treated Sara. After that Sara had gone through thick and thin for quite a long time. But finally and fortunately, one of Captain Crewe’s friends, Mr.Carrisford, saved her from the hell and took good care of her as if Sara was his own daughter.
Frances Hodgson Burnett, the writer of this book, used a large part telling readers about how Sara faced the hardship and the spirits inside the little princess. According to my understanding, the spirits Sara represented were having a strong inner world, being kind-hearted and polite.
Indeed, Sara, the little princess had a strong inner world which few of her peers had. When she was thrown into the shabby attic and ordered to do things as a servant running errands for others, Sara did not lose herself. Instead she regarded her misfortune as a challenge. She told herself that she should face it positively and conquer the troubles. No matter how rudely Miss Minchin treated her, she still behaved as a princess, just as her classmates called her. The environment could be adverse, but Sara could keep optimistic alone, with Becky or even with the mouse, Melchisedec, whose name was given by our princess.
Also, Sara was a kind-hearted girl. When Ermengarde, one of her classmates could not learn French well and was looked down by other students, the little princess gave her hands to the poor student and they became good friends. When Lottie, a little girl whose mother also died when Lottie was very young, cried and asked for mother and no one could stop her, as a result almost everyone got fed up with her, Sara came to her side, comforted her and became her little mother. And also about Becky, the little servant who liked listening to Sara’s story very much was invited by the little princess to the marvelous bedroom to play together.
As for politeness, Sara was a well behaved girl. She never forgot to say “Thank you” when she got help from others and would felt sorry when she did something wrong toward others. Even when Miss Minchin amused and hurt her badly, when the servants, taking their tone from their   mistress, were insolent and ordered her about, Sara would hold erect and reply to them with graces. As she had told herself, “A princess must be polite.”
Frankly speaking, for quite a long time, I have not read fairy-tales. However, when I read this story, I still can get lots of fun from it and be touched by it. What’s more, I have earned some reflections.
1、 Life is a box of chocolate, we never know what we gonna get. But at least, we can plan what we are doing and how we are doing. When we do something, what we should remember is that do it with our hearts and behave well as if we are princesses.
2、There may be a lot of difficulties in our life, when they come , just face them and use what we have to conquer them. Complain can solve nothing. We must have a strong inner world and we can be defeated by nothing because we are princesses.
3、Be kind to other people, even a stranger, even your enemy. Learn to help others instead of hurting them, learn to appreciate others instead of discriminating them because we are princesses.
4、Hold our heads erect and be polite as if we are noble princesses.
Friends, no matter what you are thinking now, no matter what are you’re feeling now, happy or sad, please tell yourselves, “I am a princess!”
Then you will be princess someday, I am sure.
